What are Metta Circles?

A Metta Circle is a community that convenes (in-person, virtually, or both) to intentionally hold space for every participant to advance in their healing journey by helping each other heal, as best as they are capable of.

The story of the name:

  • Metta means "loving kindness" in Pali, and we believe it is a wonderful intention to hold when seeking healing
  • It honours the practice of Metta meditation, which begins with the intention to heal oneself
  • An important part of our own healing journey has been to recognise how our indigenous practices were denigrated by colonisers, and the naming is a deliberate statement of decolonization
  • It is a Circle because everyone is equal. There are no expert “Healers” or "Facilitators" coming only with the intention of healing others - everyone who chooses to be present, is present with the intention of healing themselves and holding space for the healing of others.

We believe Metta Circles work when they build on existing relationships, so unless you are here because you were invited by someone you know to join a Metta Circle, we suggest you host a Metta Circle with your friends
