- Is this a substitute for Professioanl Therapy?
If you are genuinely seeking Professional Therapy, then this is not a substitute for it - in that model of healing, you are only receiving, and you likely expect to be helped by an expert. This is a completely different model of healing.
However, if you were only seeking Professional Therapy because you thought it was the only way, then perhaps Metta Circles can work for you - Is there a fee to participate in Metta Circles?
In monetary terms, no, because charging a fee for participation makes this process transactional and commercial, and we wish to keep it relational and trust-based. However, there can be costs associated with meeting venues that need to be recovered.
However, please do think about how you contribute to the circle by your participation. How do you show up for others? - Are Metta Circles in-person or virtual?
Each circle can decide how they convene - it can be in-person, it can be virtual, it could even be a mix (e.g. alternating in-person and virtual).
In-person circles are naturally Synchronous (i.e. meeting at a specific time); virtual circles can also be Synchronous (e.g. when using video conferencing) or they can be Asynchronous (using forum or group-chat platforms allowing participants to engage at their convenience). Both forms have pros and cons, and it is up to the circle to decide which forms work best for them
We also hope to offer a open, global platform open to anyone to offer to the world their personal story related to their healing journey. - I was invited to a Metta Circle, but it doesn't work for me
If the venue or schedule doesn't work for you, or if the identity of the group doesn't resonate with you (e.g. it is interfaith and you feel more comfortable with people of your own faith), please consider starting your own. We are open to share our experiences to help you if you invite us to. - Can I join as an observer?
While you are welcome to join as a "trial participant" to see if the experience works for you, we believe that having observers who are not present with the intention of healing themselves will make it difficult to create a safe space for others.
